Questa pagina non nasce per trasformare un singolo episodio in una validazione scientifica. Nasce per conservare e ordinare i documenti. La domanda storica è più semplice: l’avviso del 26 ottobre fu una frase casuale, formulata dopo i fatti, oppure l’esito di un ragionamento già espresso prima del terremoto? I materiali conservati mostrano una sequenza antecedente di osservazioni, dialoghi, cautele e comunicazioni pubbliche. È questo, dieci anni dopo, il dato documentale che vogliamo rendere consultabile.
This page does not turn a single episode into scientific validation. Its purpose is to preserve and organise the documents. The historical question is simpler: was the 26 October warning a casual statement made after the event, or the outcome of a line of reasoning already expressed before the earthquakes? The archived material shows a sequence of prior observations, conversations, cautions and public communications. Ten years later, that is the documentary record we want to make accessible.

Due settimane prima delle scosse del 26 ottobre, Calandra pubblica il testo di una lettera in cui chiede che l’ipotesi venga presa in carico e approfondita da ricercatori istituzionali. Il documento non dimostra il modello, ma dimostra che la linea di ricerca e la richiesta di confronto scientifico erano già esplicite prima dell’evento.Two weeks before the 26 October earthquakes, Calandra published a letter asking that the hypothesis be examined by institutional researchers. The document does not prove the model, but it shows that the research line and the request for scientific scrutiny were explicit before the event.

Nel gruppo Facebook viene pubblicata una previsione per una fase sismica rilevante fra il 21 ottobre e il 10 novembre, con massima attenzione indicata per il 24–28 ottobre. Il testo collega l’attenzione a una sequenza ritenuta eccezionale di configurazioni planetarie, ma contiene anche avvertenze esplicite: modello molto giovane, assenza di garanzie, possibile errore umano e mancata certificazione della comunità scientifica.The Facebook group published a forecast for a relevant seismic phase between 21 October and 10 November, with the highest attention indicated for 24–28 October. The post linked the warning to what was considered an exceptional sequence of planetary configurations, but also included explicit caveats: a very young model, no guarantees, possible human error and no scientific-community certification.

La finestra discussa copre i giorni successivi e viene accompagnata da una forte cautela sull’impossibilità di individuare con certezza l’epicentro.In the private conversation, a distinction that would later become central to EqForecast is already present: the problem is not only when, but also where, because the response depends on fault susceptibility. The discussion covers the following days and repeatedly cautions that the epicentre cannot be known with certainty.
La cautela personale per le notti 26–28Personal caution for the nights of 26–28 October
In un messaggio privato del 25 ottobre compare un’indicazione personale molto prudenziale: se fosse stato in una zona ad alta sismicità, Calandra scrive che avrebbe preferito dormire in automobile nelle notti dal 26 al 28. Nello stesso messaggio precisa però di non poter impartire quell’indicazione agli altri e di non rappresentare un’autorità pubblica.In a private message dated 25 October, Calandra expresses a highly precautionary personal choice: if he had been in a highly seismic area, he says he would have preferred to sleep in a car during the nights of 26–28 October. In the same message he stresses that he cannot instruct others to do so and does not represent a public authority.

Nella tarda mattinata e nel corso della giornata del 26 ottobre vengono pubblicati aggiornamenti nel gruppo Earthquakes Forecast – The Gravitational Theory. Il permalink indicato nell’archivio riporta un post delle 11:43. Il testo segnala un incremento del rischio per la sera-notte del 26 e collega l’avviso ai parametri astronomici allora utilizzati.During the late morning and the rest of 26 October, updates were posted in the Earthquakes Forecast – The Gravitational Theory group. The archived permalink is associated with an 11:43 post. The message highlights increased risk for the evening/night of the 26th and links the warning to the astronomical parameters used at the time.
Anticipo esatto: DA VERIFICARE. La Rete Sismica Nazionale localizza una prima scossa Mw 5,4 alle 17:10:36 UTC e una seconda Mw 5,9 alle 19:18:05 UTC, nell’area al confine Marche–Umbria. La sequenza si estende verso nord rispetto all’area attivata il 24 agosto.The Italian National Seismic Network locates a first Mw 5.4 earthquake at 17:10:36 UTC and a second Mw 5.9 earthquake at 19:18:05 UTC, in the Marche–Umbria border area. The sequence extends northward relative to the area activated on 24 August.

Nei commenti e nei messaggi del giorno successivo alcune persone dichiarano di avere scelto di dormire fuori casa o in automobile dopo aver letto i comunicati. Queste testimonianze documentano la ricezione e l’effetto comportamentale della comunicazione; non consentono, da sole, di stabilire scientificamente quante vite siano state salvate.In comments and messages posted the following day, some people state that they chose to sleep outside their homes or in their cars after reading the warnings. These testimonials document the receipt and behavioural effect of the communication; by themselves they cannot scientifically establish how many lives were saved.

Il 30 ottobre alle 06:40 UTC si verifica il terremoto Mw 6,5 di Norcia, il più forte della sequenza. Anche in questo caso non si registrano nuove vittime, mentre i danni e il numero delle persone fuori casa aumentano fortemente.On 30 October at 06:40 UTC, the Mw 6.5 Norcia earthquake occurs, the strongest event in the sequence. Again, no new fatalities are recorded, while damage and the number of displaced people increase sharply.
Non una “prova definitiva”, ma nemmeno una previsione costruita dopo i fatti.Not “final proof”, but neither a forecast constructed after the fact.
1. Esiste documentazione antecedente1. Prior documentation exists
Lettera, conversazioni e post mostrano che l’ipotesi astronomica e una finestra di attenzione erano discusse prima delle scosse. Questo consente di distinguere il caso da una semplice lettura retrospettiva formulata solo dopo il terremoto.Letters, conversations and posts show that the astronomical hypothesis and a time window of concern were being discussed before the earthquakes. This distinguishes the case from a purely retrospective interpretation created only after the event.
2. L’incertezza era dichiarata2. Uncertainty was explicitly stated
Nei dialoghi compare ripetutamente il limite geografico: conoscere il momento non equivale a conoscere l’epicentro. È un passaggio concettuale che anticipa la futura separazione EqForecast fra WHEN e WHERE.The conversations repeatedly acknowledge a geographical limitation: knowing the time does not mean knowing the epicentre. This concept anticipates the later EqForecast separation between WHEN and WHERE.

This reconstruction preserves both, rather than selecting only favourable statements.

Nel 2016 non esistevano l’App, il SAP, l’attuale Timeline, ATR/ARR, WHERE/HOW STRONG né l’Opzione 2.6 nella forma odierna. Il caso è quindi un antecedente storico e concettuale, non un test retroattivo automatico del software 2026.In 2016 there was no App, SAP, current Timeline, ATR/ARR, WHERE/HOW STRONG or Option 2.6 in its present form. Due giorni dopo le scosse, il Giornale ricostruì il caso attingendo ai post allora visibili sui social. È una fonte giornalistica contemporanea e indipendente da EqForecast: non valida scientificamente il modello, ma documenta che l’avviso e la sua cronologia circolavano pubblicamente già in quei giorni.Two days after the earthquakes, il Giornale reconstructed the case from posts then visible on social media. It is a contemporary journalistic source independent of EqForecast: it does not scientifically validate the model, but documents that the warning and its chronology were already circulating publicly at the time.
L’articolo richiamava la segnalazione del 18 ottobre, il successivo post del 25 ottobre, l’area indicata come Mediterranea e la fascia del 26 ottobre dalle 17:30 a mezzanotte. Osservava poi che le due scosse erano avvenute nella fascia segnalata.The article referred to the 18 October warning, the subsequent 25 October post, the broad Mediterranean area and the 17:30 to midnight window on 26 October. It then noted that both earthquakes occurred within that window.
La stessa cronaca non era acritica: ricordava che il modello veniva definito dallo stesso Calandra giovane e non comprovato, e poneva il problema della «prova inversa», cioè di quanti falsi allarmi il sistema avrebbe prodotto. Questa obiezione è oggi pienamente coerente con il metodo EqForecast attuale, che richiede di contabilizzare anche falsi allarmi e periodi senza evento.The report was not uncritical: it noted that Calandra himself described the model as young and unproven, and raised the “inverse test” question — how many false alarms the system would produce. That objection is fully consistent with current EqForecast methodology, which requires false alarms and non-event periods to be counted as well.

Le fonti indicano più fattori protettivi: molte abitazioni vulnerabili erano già state evacuate dopo il 24 agosto; in alcune aree, come Norcia, una parte del patrimonio era stata rafforzata dopo il terremoto del 1997; soprattutto, dopo la prima scossa M5,4 delle 17:10 UTC molte persone uscirono dagli edifici prima della M5,9 delle 19:18 UTC. ANSA documentò, ad esempio, che a Visso la prima scossa aveva portato le persone in strada prima della seconda.This is a legitimate question, but the absence of fatalities cannot automatically be attributed to a single cause. Sources point to several protective factors: many vulnerable homes had already been evacuated after 24 August; in areas such as Norcia part of the building stock had been strengthened after the 1997 earthquake; and, crucially, after the first M5.4 shock at 17:10 UTC many people left buildings before the M5.9 shock at 19:18 UTC. ANSA reported, for example, that in Visso the first shock had driven people into the streets before the second.

EqForecast's archived material, by contrast, contains prior communications defining a window of concern. This makes it possible to investigate the warning's potential incremental value for people who received it before the first shock.

This documents a reported behavioural effect. It does not by itself prove that those people would have died without that choice.

Per ogni testimonianza occorre ricostruire: orario di ricezione dell'avviso, località, stato dell'abitazione, comportamento previsto senza avviso, comportamento realmente adottato, danni subiti dall'edificio e presenza di altre allerte o motivi indipendenti per restare fuori. Solo così si può discutere un possibile contributo protettivo individuale.For each testimonial, the reconstruction should establish: time the warning was received, location, condition of the home, likely behaviour without the warning, behaviour actually adopted, damage to the building and any other warnings or independent reasons to stay outside. Only then can a possible individual protective contribution be assessed.
